I mentioned yesterday that the Bible is the most important book in my life. I also referred to the fact that the Bible has been widely opposed, yet it is still loved and valued by people down through human history. It is the most valuable book you will ever have opportunity to read.
I also pointed out that there are eight qualities of the Bible which I want people to recognise, among all the other qualities it possesses. The Bible is the most Enduring, Authoritative, Profound, Resiliant, Enlightening, Impactful, Endorsed and Significant book in all of human history.
Let me explain to you why I say it is Enduring.
That something Endures through time already sets it apart and puts it into the category of a Wonder of The Word, such as the Pyramids. When compared with other literature it is remarkable that an entire book of such great antiquity should endure for so long. Textual criticism attests to the absolute and unique reliability of this text and its textual authority over every other ancient book which is given any credence at all. In fact, if a person thought it reasonable to study Plato, Aristotle or any other philosophy or writings from antiquity they would be most ignorant and blind to not make a more diligent study of the Bible in preference, simply because of the validity of this enduring text.
Next time I look at the topic of the Bible with you I’ll explain why I see it as Authoritative.
